I Am "Bad" and You Can’t Stop Me
I
shall, I will excel because I am bad, and you can’t
stop me. I read everything because knowledge is
power. In math, Pythagorean theorem is as easy as
1,2,3. I can recite the poetry of Nikki Giovanni
with ease. I can play Beethoven’s 5th
Symphony with the fortitude of my being. You see,
I’m naturally gifted that way, for I am bad, and you
can’t stop me.
I
can run with the best runners, keeping stride with
Flo Jo and Robert Johnson. I can soar with eagles
like Michael Jordan when he puts on his show, for I
am bad and you can’t stop me.
I
can achieve, and I will achieve. My inspiration
comes from the Nubian Queen - Tiye; Bilal - the
Islamic crier; Kunta Kinte - who rejected slavery;
Phyllis Wheatley - the first African -American
poetess; Joe Louis - the "Brown Bomber"; Barbara
Jordan - the superb warrior/lawyer; Marva Collins -
the ultimate teacher; Sammy Davis, Jr. - the master
showman; Dr. M.L. King - the supreme leader; and
Jesse Jackson - the master politician. For I am bad,
and you can’t stop me.
Like
Prince Hall, the father of Black Masonic life and
like John Johnson of Ebony and Jet, I
can achieve, and I will achieve. Like Dr. Daniel
Hale Williams, who performed the first successful
open heart surgery or Dr. Benjamin Carson, a
neurosurgeon, I can excel in medicine, too. For I am
bad, and you can’t stop me.
I
can be humble as George Washington Carver, or as
shrewd as Booker T. Washington or as "deep" as
Malcolm X. I am bad, and you can’t stop me. No drug
pusher no test, no racism, no bigotry nor injustice
can stop me; for I am bad and you can’t stop me.
Like
"Ice-T", I use my mind as a lethal weapon and like
B.D.P. (Boogie Down Production), I shall never
forget my history, for I am bad, and you can’t stop
me.
Like
Muhammad Ali, who declared, "I am the greatest!" I
now declare that I am bad, and you can’t stop me!
